The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, on Tuesday, 9th September, 2025, commissioned the newly constructed School of Postgraduate Studies Hall at the Faculty of Agriculture, Shabu-Lafia Campus. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, principal officers, faculty members, and members of the university management team.
In her remarks, Professor Liman expressed appreciation to the Dean and staff of the Faculty of Agriculture for their cooperation and commitment during the execution of the project. She also paid tribute to the founding fathers of the faculty for their pioneering contributions and specially acknowledged the Sangarin Shabu, Alhaji Mahmud Bwalla II, for honoring the invitation and for his continuous support to the university.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated her administration’s commitment to advancing infrastructural development and academic excellence across all faculties. She called for stronger collaboration from staff in the areas of research, scholarships, and grants. Professor Liman also thanked the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project for its contribution to the university’s academic progress and broader development in Nasarawa State. She concluded with prayers for divine guidance and strength to achieve more institutional milestones.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Maikano Muhammad Ari, commended his successor as Dean of SPGS, Professor Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman, for his dedication to raising academic standards. He assured of his continued support to the Faculty while also appreciating the past deans for sustaining its integrity. He further lauded the Vice-Chancellor for her support in driving the project and promoting academic excellence at NSUK.
Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor S. A. Okunsebor described the new postgraduate hall as a historic milestone. He said the building represents not only a modern facility but also a hub for learning, research, and innovation, reflecting dedication, vision, and collective effort. He expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for her visionary leadership and the university management for donating the project to the faculty.
In his goodwill message, the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Chairman of the Committee Deans and Academic Directors, Professor Abdullahi Adamu Sulaiman, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and management for their support. He described the commissioning as a celebration of academic progress and institutional growth, noting that the hall would serve as a platform for excellence and transformative ideas aimed at national development.
Former Deans of the Faculty, Professors Shehu Abdulrahman, F. A. Ajayi and I.M Haruna, in their goodwill messages, applauded Professor Liman’s commitment to making NSUK a true citadel of learning. Reflecting on the faculty’s historical milestones, they described it as “God’s own faculty” and praised the current Dean, Professor Okunsebor, alongside faculty members, for their dedication in ensuring the project’s completion.
The high point of the event was the official unveiling of the edifice by the Vice-Chancellor and the donation of solar-powered irrigation pumps by ACReSAL.
